Hello, newbie needs help with patch

Hello

Im following the tutorial to create a patch thats located in the help index. When im supose to build the story-patch.aip I get some errors:

Exception - Reason: MsiMsp.exe failed to create the patch file.
Build finished because an error was encountered.

Ive done everything from creating the simple api to adding the images in the patch project.

I need a tip on how to contiune

Hi,

It hard to tell what went wrong. In order to figure it out please send the ENTIRE log displayed in the build window.

Thx for helping me.

Building package: C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Desktop\MSITEST\story-patch.msp
Creating PCP database... done.
Creating MSP... error.
Exception - Reason: MsiMsp.exe failed to create the patch file.

Build finished because an error was encountered.

Maybe Im getting the error because i dont have msimsp.exe? Ive tried to change to everything in the Options->Tools. Dont understand why I dont have it, Tried downloading lots of stuff from microsoft to get that file.

Hi,

Yes, this happens because you don't have the MsiMsp utility. This comes with Microsoft's Platform SDK. You can download it from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

After you install it you can find the file at a path similar to:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Platform SDK\Samples\SysMgmt\Msi\Patching\MsiMsp.Exe
