You are indeed right! This issue was fixed in our latest release (it's just we did not do the release announcements just yet - i.e. manually announcing every user that his bug was fixed / improvement was added).

Please note it is possible to use the "SetDigitalCertificateFile" command line argument in Azure Devops.
