Using Advanced Installer w/Visual Studio

Wed Sep 23, 2020 11:41 pm

I am attempting distribute my Visual Studio application (OurGame) to my friends. When I publish the app using VS it creates the files OurGame.application, publish.htm, and setup.exe. The first executes just fine on my computer, but the other two result in security message "This type of file can harm your computer" and 'setup.exe was blocked because it could harm your device'. I was hoping Advanced Installer would solve those problems but I clearly have not set it up properly. Can you help? The attached Word document contains 2 screen shots of my set up as far an I understand it. Again I am missing something, what? :?

Hello Don and welcome to our forums,

When trying to install your application using setup.exe, are you getting the Windows SmartScreen? E.g.:

If so, this might be happening because your setup is not digitally signed.

For more information about digital signature, please have a look over our "Digital Signatures" article.

Hope this helps!
