Installer Analytics switch for different builds

Thu Mar 24, 2016 12:51 pm

Hi,

We purchased AI recently and are evaluating Analytics and I have a few questions

I have a live and a test build in my installer - Is there a recommended way to switch analytics off for test builds?

I can't find any documentation on the IP Filters section on the analytics web page. I assume it excludes the added ip address. Does it accept ranges of ip addresses or wildcards and if so what is the needed syntax?

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

Thank you for registering AI and evaluating our analytics service.

To disable analytics for a certain build, using the Professional edition, you need to add a custom action in UI and Execute Sequences that sets the property
AI_IA_ENABLE to value 0. This custom action should be the scheduled as the first action to be executed in both sequences.

Also, the condition of the custom action should be AI_BUILD_NAME="<your build name from Builds page>".

Regarding the IP filter, it only accepts fixed IPs as you assumed. You cannot set a range or use wildcards.

Hi Bogdan,

Thanks for your help, I have one more question
you need to add a custom action in UI and Execute Sequences
I can see "Install Execution Stage" but the only other stages are "Wizard Dialogs Stage" and "Finish Dialogs Stage"

By "UI" can I assume you mean "Wizard Dialogs Stage"?

Thanks,

David

Hello David,

Yes, I can confirm you that by "UI" my colleague meant "Wizard Dialogs Stage".

If there is anything else we can assist you with just let us know.

All the best,
Daniel
