Change output path while upgrading 32 bit application to 64 bit

Wed Apr 01, 2020 8:40 pm

Hi team,

We have an application that was build for 32 bit versions and gets installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\... location. We are using Advanced Installer 16.5 version to build EXE.
Now, we have upgraded our application to build for 64 bit versions and it gets installed at C:\Program Files\... location.

But above behavior is observed only for fresh install (first uninstall older versions and install fresh one). When user tries to upgrade from older 32 bit version to newer 64 bit version, upgrade runs successfully but application gets installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\... location only and not at C:\Program Files\... location.

Is there a way to resolve this? Is it a known problem that a 32-bit installer cannot upgrade a 64-bit application?

Thanks,
Viral Shah

Hello Viral,

Thist most probably happens due to the "Use original installation path when upgrading" option from the "Upgrades" page.

Could you please remove that option and let me know if everything is working as expected?

Best regards,
