Re: Version for files that don't have version info

Strange... Then what is the point of being able to specify a specific version number for a file that has no version? If it is not being used anyway, why would someone then use it? The problem with that registry key solution is that that is for the package as a whole... The best solution for us would...

Re: Version for files that don't have version info

So, what you are saying is that once the file is installed, there is no way anymore to know what version number the versionless file had upon installation (even if that was specified using that ProuctVersion parameter)? Hmmm... That makes things complicated, as there are many such files (bitmaps, sk...

Version for files that don't have version info

Hi, could someone please tell me if the following would work: Some files in my installer project don't have version info. One thing we could do is to say: "always overwrite". However, this means that if later, someone installs an earlier version of the product (product allows side-by-side ...

URL shortcut in Start menu not uninstalled (Vista)

Hi, my installer puts a URL shortcut in the Start menu using the Application Shortcut Folder in "Files and Folders" in the Project Definition. When I uninstall the product, on XP, everything is cleaned up nicely. However, on Vista, this URL shortcut is not uninstalled, and neither is the &...

Avoid overwrite if user changed file

Hi, I have the following situation: - the installer installs program files in the normal program files location, and then also some data files in a folder chosen by the user (usually just C:\MyAppData) - one of the files in the data files is a settings file (MySetting.txt) that users will edit accor...

Re: Launch Application finishing action: no working directory?

I couldn't delete the already existing checkbox for launching an application either, so I put it to invisible and disabled it.
It now works fine with that custom action.
Thanks!

Re: Launch Application finishing action: no working directory?

OK, that seems like a possible solution, yes. But what about the already existing ExitDialog with its Launch application checkbox (RUNAPPLICATION) and Finish event? I can't seem to edit these ones to change the action into my custom action. Do I need to build a complete new dialog for this and delet...

Launch Application finishing action: no working directory?

Hi, the application I am installing requires arguments and a working directory to be set for the shortcuts (on the desktop and in the start menu) that will launch the application, and this works fine. However, I would also like to do the same for the final action when the user presses Finish in the ...

Re: older (VC++ 6) redistributables and AI pre-requisites

I only found keys for 8.0 and 9.0 there...
But I am now checking for the version of msvcrt.dll, and if it is 6.0 or above, the redist is not executed. This seems to work fine.

Re: older (VC++ 6) redistributables and AI pre-requisites

Thank you for your prompt reply! When I added vcredist.exe as a pre-requisite, the thing runs, but afterwards still says something like: "some prerequisites are still missing". I guess I'll need to use that monitoring tool to find out how to propery detect if this is already installed or n...

older (VC++ 6) redistributables and AI pre-requisites

Hi, for a client of mine, I'm currently looking into switching their current installer over to AI. I've found how to specifiy the software prerequisite for Visual C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable, which works fine. However, I don't see a possibility to do the same for Visual C/C++ 6 (latest service pack...
