Re: Problem generating shortcut using property

Sent.

I'll also add that I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I did not try running the installer on any additional OS's.

Problem generating shortcut using property

Hello all, I'm trying to generate a shortcut to an installed file, and I want the name of the shortcut to have the version number in it. But when I specify the value for the Shortcut Name as "ProTest [|ProductVersion]" the ACTUAL name of the shortcut that gets saved is "ProductName]&q...

Re: Windows Mobile - Compressing CAB package causes CEAppMgr err

Thanks, Ionut... I look forward to the update. Despite this minor problem, your Windows Mobile support is excellent, and for me, timely. I just implemented an additional configuration for our WinMo packages that would have been very difficult to manually write out as a single INF file. I thought I'd...

Re: Installing Google Software

Again you've provided next to no information about what you're doing -- simply an error code from an unnamed Google product. No one will be able to help you or point you in the right direction unless you are more specific. What Google product are you working with? How are you trying to use Advanced ...

Re: Installing Google Software

You haven't really explained exactly what you are doing.

Are you:

A) Creating your own installer package?

or

B) Trying to install something you downloaded from Google?

If A, this is the appropriate forum. If B, you need to go to Google's help pages and ask your question there.

Re: Installing Google Software

Are you using Advanced Installer to actually create an install package for Google software? It sounds like you're asking for support for a general installation problem.

Windows Mobile - Compressing CAB package causes CEAppMgr err

Hello again, I'm afraid I've run into another stumbling block with the Windows Mobile CAB project in AI. After building the CAB files and incorporating into our larger project, I found that the CE Application Manager (CEAppMgr) rejected the setup .INI file which pointed to the CABs. After ruling out...

Re: Mobile CAB: Same Filename (but diff. file) per Configuration

Gabriel,

I totally did not realize you could specify a path on the Configuration tab like that. It wasn't obvious that it was editable (I guess I should have read the help file more carefully). This is exactly what I needed to finish this installer up.

Thanks much!

Re: Automatically add .LNK extension to shortcuts in mobile CAB

Hi Gabriel, I looked closer at the behavior, and I see that you are right -- AI does initially append .LNK to a shortcut when you create it. Where I ran into problems was I quickly created a shortcut with the default name (i.e. "Shortcut to file.exe.lnk"). The length of that string exceede...

Re: Mobile CAB: Same Filename (but diff. file) per Configuration

Hi Bogdan, Thanks for the suggestion, but I think that approach will only work in a "normal" installation project. When dealing with a Windows Mobile CAB project, I don't have the "Components" page, nor can I perform any action on a folder by double-clicking it. However, I can ad...

Mobile CAB: Same Filename (but diff. file) per Configuration

I'm using AI 7.1.3 and building a Windows Mobile CAB project with multiple configurations -- one for Windows Mobile 5 (WM5) and one for Windows Mobile 6 (WM6). I have 2 versions of a DLL: 1 works on WM5 devices, the other works on WM6 devices. While the filenames are identical (SDiD_Driver.dll), the...

Automatically add .LNK extension to shortcuts in mobile CAB

I've just been experimenting with converting our old .INF CAB builder script to a Windows Mobile CAB project. So far it's easy and intuitive like its big-brother counterpart; I like it. One thing that threw me off was the requirement to manually add the .LNK extension to shortcuts created on the &qu...

Re: Install prerequisites only

Thanks, Cosmin -- this turned out to work pretty well. I will look forward to a proper implementation, which will speed up the total install process a bit.

Re: Removing all Prerequisite Install Conditions

I see -- that sounds like a totally reasonable thing to do then. It would be easy enough to craft a condition that always evaluated to "false" during the Prerequisite check, and thus always install the DX9 package. But the caveat is that the condition needs to evaluate to "true" ...

Re: Icons not registered

You say the icons don't appear in "browsers." What kind of application are you installing?

I've been able to use the File Associations feature with a custom icon with no issues. Our application is an .EXE Windows Form application (made in .NET).
