Last working Version 9.3

Old Projectfiles aip are not working with AI Versions 9.4,9.5 and 9.6.
When I build the Project with 9.3 everything is working okay. When I build the same aip with newer Versions of AI even 9.6 the setup is doing a rollback every time.

Re: common progress bar for chained installs

Hi Cosmin, can I trick something , maybe a progressbar which is moving like "Knight Rider" or something else, just to show that the main setup does not freeze? Maybe when the first chained installer starts then something starts moving. And that stops after the last chainer is installed. Mu...

common progress bar for chained installs

What I have done is created a msi chain instalation in order to install a collection of other msi packages. Everything works ok this far. Except one of the goals would be to display a common progress bar for all installs. At this moment I have a progress bar in the chainer installer but this is not ...

Re: Product GUID of chained Packages

Hi Mihai,

the workaround is no option because AI uses the wrong productcode and a deinstall of the updated chained installation does not work then.

so i have to wait for the update. Is there a timeline for it?

If you want I can test a beta release for you as soon one is available.

Regards

Gary

Product GUID of chained Packages

Hello, I have a Master-Setup and include another msi as a chained package. In the Table editor I see the Productcode of the chained msi and the code is correct. (this code is used from the master setup to uninstall the chained package) Now I change the chainedpackage and it gets a new Productid(majo...

Re: Uninstalling Product after patching

Hi Bogdan, yes you are right. A mastersetup master.exe has many features . Each feature calls a chained installation like product1.msi, product2.msi,.... and so on. Imagine I have 10 product.msi in my master setup, and after a while I created Patches for product1.msi and product3.msi. Now after the ...

Uninstalling Product after patching

Hello, I've created a chained installation master.exe where I install product.msi . After a time I've created a Patch for Product.msi and applied it to the msi. But now when I want to uninstall master.exe my product.msi is not uninstalled. The Uninstall Parameter is REMOVE="ALL" Without ap...

Re: Suggestions for predefined prerequisites

A chained installation has to be started in a console session if you install software with RDP. So it would be nice to check by the setup whether you are in a "normal" or console session.

Stack overflow with Version 8.1.2

When I want to condition a chained package with (&Realtime_Server = 3) AND NOT (!Realtime_Server = 3) I`m receiving a stack overflow. In the older Version 7.7 it worked. Please see attached screenshot. I even get the error when I create a new project and try to condition a chained package. So it...

Best Practice to patch a chained installation

In a setup with several features lets say 5 different features, each choosen feature calls another setup as a chained installation. Now lets say I need to patch feature 1 and 3 which are setups by its own. Do I have to build a patch for the setup 1 and 3 and a patch for the lets call it master setup...

Re: Chained Installation ended prematurely

Hi Cosmin, thanks for the very good hint. I've found the dll which the setup wants to replace after an reboot with pendmoves from sysinternals. So this dll is used by diffenrent single setups and the strange thing is that the dll has no version info. So i turned hash files on in advanced installer a...

Chained Installation ended prematurely

In a setup lets call it mastersetup i can pick different features to install in the custom dialog. Each feature then calls a chained msi when selected. In some combinations of selected features the mastersetup ends prematurely, BUT all chained msi are installed correctly. I've attached my log and ai...
