Installation from network drive fails

hello everybody

My bootstrapper exe installation is using a custom action in order to copy a file from the installation media respectively located next to the install.exe to the application directory. Everything works fine when running the installation from a CD, USB-stick or local drive. It fails when starting from a network drive (mapped) giving the message (I translate it from German language) with the meaning "usage of network address \\myserver\mydirectory\mysubdirectory\ failed".

Any idea? Your earliest possible answer is highly appreciated.

best regards,

Re: Installation from network drive fails

Hi Michael,

Have you tried testing the custom action outside the installer? To see if it can reach the network location. Maybe you are required to provide some credentials in order to access the network path.

If the custom action works correctly outside the setup package please send us the aip file and a verbose log to support at advancedinstaller dot com. Please note that we do not debug user's custom actions but I can
take a look at the package, maybe I'll see something that prevents the correct execution of your custom action.

Bogdan
