dump created when administrative installation rollsback

Hi,

I have created an Msi which works with administrative installation. the problem is on rollback during administrative installation dump is created. The dump just contains all the folders but no files in them. I want to know if this is the default behaviour, leaving behind empty folders when administrative installation fails/rollbacks, or I need to do something in the msi to prevent this dump creation.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm not sure why you are encountering this behavior. Does the package work correctly or it always fails?

Re: dump created when administrative installation rollsback

The administrative installation works fine. I noticed one more thing that when administrative installation gets over, it creates its entry under
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\installer\user data\..
and also under HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall.
I think administrative installation do not touch registry entry. am i right?

I am unable to catch the problem.

Re: dump created when administrative installation rollsback

Hi,

Can you please send us a log of the administrative install to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it? Please note that an Administrative install does not create registry entries on the target machine. Also, the registry entries you mentioned are usually created by a normal installation.
