[Solved] Best time to change a file from Start Menu ?

Hi,

I have an HTML documentation file that I edit with some of the values chosen by the user (specifically the user selects a port number for his site, In custom action. Net discover the name of the machine, and I write dynamically in the doc Start menu http://Hostname:Port)

What is best practice?
Before the copy in the startup menu? (if yes, which directory?)
After copying the Start menu? (I must discover. Net directory doc & settings)

thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately Advanced Installer cannot edit HTML files, so the custom action can run only after the file is installed in the Start menu. You can schedule it under "InstallExecuteSequence" -> "Install" as "Deferred".

Thanks Cosmin,

I thought of course do in .Net but:
Is it possible to easily retrieve the installation directory of the Start Menu? (to send to the custom action)

for example: [START_MENU_FOLDER_PROP] ?? :)

Hi,

The Start menu path is stored in the "StartMenuFolder" property. This property can be passed as a parameter to a .NET Installer Class Action.
