Product GUID of chained Packages

Hello,

I have a Master-Setup and include another msi as a chained package. In the Table editor I see the Productcode of the chained msi and the code is correct. (this code is used from the master setup to uninstall the chained package)
Now I change the chainedpackage and it gets a new Productid(major Upgrade).
When I rebuild the master setup the Productcode from the included chained package is not updated to the new Product code. In order to get the new code I have to delete and add the package again.
With a lot of chained packages that is a lot of effort to do.

Why are the productcodes of chained packages not updated during rebuild?

Regards

Re: Product GUID of chained Packages

Hi Gary,

This behavior is caused by a bug in Advanced Installer. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, the fix will be out in a future version.
Meanwhile you can build the installer directly without checking the "Table Editor" in the Advanced Installer GUI.

All the best,

Re: Product GUID of chained Packages

Hi Mihai,

the workaround is no option because AI uses the wrong productcode and a deinstall of the updated chained installation does not work then.

so i have to wait for the update. Is there a timeline for it?

If you want I can test a beta release for you as soon one is available.

Regards
