Clarification

Hi Mihai,

1. I build 1.0 version in Windows xp sp2 in 25-09-2011.
After 2 months my system had Virus attack, system was formatted.

2. After formatting the system, i open 1.0 aip file with all new paths,
Then i updated 1.1 version and going to release a Patch.

The above patch building scenario is possible??

3. If i want to add few files on existing location while using patch installation.

Actually i do not understand, how the way patch will find out root directory of application to adding new file??

4. How the way patch will find out the Application root directory on existing System??

Please clarify my doubts

Thank you,
Udayk.

Re: Clarification

Hello Uday,
The above patch building scenario is possible??
This depends on your project path settings. Please follow the article and if you used relative paths then any later patch issue is not related to this incident.
Actually i do not understand, how the way patch will find out root directory of application to adding new file??
The patch process actually acts like a Modify operation on the existing installation.
When running a patch the following steps are performed:
- the previous version .MSI file is used from its cached location
- the .MSP patch is applied on the .MSI similar to a transform
- the result is used to Modify the existing installation

All the best,
Mihai
