Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceText

I noticed if you move a one of these labels of the CustomizeDlg and then create a localization file, something strange appears there:
<ENTRY id="Azure.Control.Text.CustomizeDlg#TotalSpaceText">
<STRING lang="en" value="[PrimaryVolumeSpaceRequired]"/>
<STRING lang="nl" value=""/>
</ENTRY>
1) Why does it appear when I just want to move it a little bit to the left/right? Doesn't disappear when I move it back.
2) I used 4 languages: english, dutch, russian and ukrainian. It created entries for enlish and dutch only. For everything else it created 4 entries.

Hello,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Can you please use screenshots to evidentiate the test case scenario?

Re: Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceTe

1) Create SeetupTypeDlg (unmodified CustomizeDlg shown)

2) Create localization file for dutch, english, russian and ukrainian ("User Interface" checked in localization options dialog). As you can see, no strange entries for PrimaryVolumeSpaceAvailable.

3) Now move TotalSpaceText or AvailableSpaceText just a little bit

4) Create localization file again. Some strange entries appear for english and dutch. Strange thing they appear at all, also strange no entries for russian and ukrainian.

Re: Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceTe

Hello,

This behavior is caused by a bug in Advanced Installer, thank you for bringing it to our attention.
I have notified the development team and added it on our TODO list. The fix will be available in a future version.

Meanwhile you can delete the entries you don't need from the dictionary file or try another theme.

All the best,
Mihai

Re: Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceTe

After later investigation, it seems this is not a bug. The reason that string appears in the dictionary on Azure theme is because it does not have translations for the listed languages.

Re: Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceTe

But why does it appear only when you move controls?

Re: Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceTe

Here are the criteria the strings are added in dictionary:
- first of all their project segment must be enabled
- the strings must not have any theme translation for the selected languages
- also any edit will automatically add them in the dictionary

Still not completely clear: if it doesn't have a translation for the dutch language why does it add the entry to the dictionary only when the control is edited/moved? If something has no translation it should be added always.

Re: Something strange with TotalSpaceText & AvailableSpaceTe

Hello,

This is a result of our internal programmatic system we have because we cannot have translations for all languages on all themes. Our translations database is continuously expanding and you can also bring your contribution.

The available workaround is:
- add the untranslated languages to your project
- go to Translations Page -> Dictionaries tab and "Create a dictionary for an untranslated language". The target language should be the language which doesn't have translations.
The resulted dictionary will contain all the untranslated strings( even if they are not used in your project ).
- translate the strings you need and import the dictionary into your project. If you are willing to translate and share the whole dictionary, please contact us via e-mail to find out about the benefits we can offer.
