Hi Vince, The issues signaled here are not general. They were solved case by case, usually directly in the AIP file. Just send yours to support at advanced installer dot com and we'll take a look. Please don't forget to specify the exact issue (which file should be installed where) and the exact ste...

That's right. Although the MSIs are actually cached by WI. I suspect what the system is looking for are the files - these aren't cached. Even worse, the registry entries installed per user are not Uninstalled (except for the user actually doing the uninstall). That is why I advise against installing...

Hello,

I am afraid that currently Advanced Installer only supports packages in English language and with the ANSI character set in the file paths and names.

The answer is here:

Only the client application knows what registry entries it required. You need to contact your provider for each DLL and find out the registry keys they use.

The generic registry keys for application and components are set automatically by Windows Installer.

That is achieved by using Advertised Shortcuts. We will support them soon, too, although they sport other issues - like missing an icon before the first run when installed on the desktop.

I don't speak French, but probably the Windows Installer service on your computer is broken and needs reinstalled.

Hi Paul,

Advanced Installer fills all the Summary Information fields specified by Microsoft for Windows Installer packages. Version isn't one of them...

Can you please tell me what property you are adding to the msi file in order to have it displayed in the Tooltip?

Thanks,
Cata

No, I am afraid this convenience feature was delayed in favor of more urgent functionality.

We will reschedule it for a future version.

I understand. That happens because Windows Installer ignores the fourth version field. It considers 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.999 as the exact same version.

You need to change the third (or second or first) version field when doing new releases.

Hi Perry,

Windows Installer supports updating of configuration data on install in the following places:
- Registry (which in Java can be accessed from Preferrences)
- INI files
- Environment variables.

Updating of .BAT files is not supported.

Hi Paul, Since DirectoryManager is initialized by CostInitialize I think that any standard or custom action that needs DM to be initialized should be scheduled after CostFinalize. Advanced Installer uses sequence tables as recomended by Microsoft so I would say that the merge module should be change...

I don't see why not. But I know nothing about Delphy 4 EXEs...

The template MSI is 114k. Optionally, the setup.exe is 76k. Additional custom actions, bitmaps, etc. can add weight.

Are you sure you have the same issue with 2.5.1?

Did you start from the original 2.4 AIP again and only made the changes with 2.5.1?

Because 2.5 corrupts the AIP...
