The Edit Action Properties Dialog

This dialog allows you to specify a status message that will be displayed in the progress dialog box. The text displayed contains the description of the custom action and optionally can contain formatted data returned from the executing action. This message is also written in the log file generated during the installation.

Description

Edit the text that is displayed in the progress dialog box, or written to the log file when the action is executing. You can localize this value.

Template

A format template that is used to format action data records to display during action execution (if the custom action returns some data). You can localize this value.

These fields are of Formatted Type and can be edited using Smart Edit Control. You can insert a reference to a file, folder or property.

Action text is displayed only for custom actions that are sequenced as deferred between the InstallInitialize and InstallFinalize actions.
