Re: Installer size increase after AI upgrade

Thanks for looking Catalin, I guess as long as I know what it is and it's not anything to be concerned about that's fine.

Re: Installer size increase after AI upgrade

Hi Catalin, Thanks for coming back to me. Regarding the AIP file, I only modified it to see if removing the new lines would remove the DLL/theme that wasn't there before to try and establish if they were responsible for the file size increase. Regarding the actual issue, I agree that the change in s...

Re: Installer size increase after AI upgrade

I tried manually removing all the following lines, which AI had added and then did a rebuild. The size of the installer remained the same and when I saved the file it reinstated them all. <ROW Property="AI_PREDEF_LCONDS_PROPS" Value="AI_DETECTED_ADMIN_USER"/> <COMPONENT cid="...

Re: Installer size increase after AI upgrade

I'm not sure if it's related to the SoftwareDetector.dll but it also added the following line: <COMPONENT cid="caphyon.advinst.msicomp.MsiPropsComponent"> <ROW Property="AI_PREDEF_LCONDS_PROPS" Value="AI_DETECTED_ADMIN_USER"/> If I was to remove SoftwareDetector.dll man...

Installer size increase after AI upgrade

Hi, I have an installation package for an Office add-in. I recently upgraded Advanced Installer from 18.9.1 to 19.7 and I noticed that my installer size has increased. I installed both versions and checked the files on disk and I don't think my actual software accounts for this increase so I can onl...

Re: Shortcuts are not created in the start menu after updating from 18.8 to 19.0

Hi Catalin,

I've recreated the issue with a small Visual Studio project and sent it to you.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Shortcuts are not created in the start menu after updating from 18.8 to 19.0

I just wanted to jump on and say I had the exact same issue after upgrading to 19.2. I've downgraded to 18.9.1 and it's working again. There's definitely something going on here. I've attached an image of my shortcut (I also tried recreating it). It's just a shortcut to the main app in the package. ...

Location of "per user" installs

Hi, If I build an installer and choose "per machine if user is administrator, per user otherwise" the application folder in Advanced installer is "[AI_UserProgramFiles][Manufacturer]\[ProductName]". If the user chooses to install per user then the application is installed to &quo...

Re: Visual Studio Extension Version Pain

Bit late but having had the same problem again today I popped back to check. Thanks Eusebiu I will disable it.

That said, it would be nice if the project didn't get disabled unless there was a breaking change, I can't imagine that every extension update is breaking (apart from the version number).

Visual Studio Extension Version Pain

I seem to get this problem every time you update something where the Visual Studio version add-in and the version of Advanced Installer version get out of sync and my project (in VS) will no longer load. My example from today: I was running V4.5.2. I open visual studio and find that my setup project...

Re: Make 32 bit/64 bit registry keys easier.

Also rather than having the option on each registry key I guess it could be applied at a group level - maybe at the feature level?

Re: Make 32 bit/64 bit registry keys easier.

Hi Daniel, Thanks for replying. The specific example I'm thinking of is when installing an Office Add-in. In that case the bitness of the OS is actually irrelevant, it''s the bitness of the Office install which is of importance. In our case we are using add-in express and their installer routine (ad...

Make 32 bit/64 bit registry keys easier.

At the moment in order to support 32/64 bit registry keys we have to reference this article and go through a process which is not entirely obvious: http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-guide/qa-32-64-bit-registry.html I think it could be made easier with Advanced installer having an option on each ...

Create 32 bit AND 64 bit registry keys

Hi, I have a single installer that installs an Office add-in which works with both 32-bit and 64 bit versions of Office. I want to install a registry key that will install in both the 32 bit and 64 bit portions of the registry regardless of whether the OS is 32 or 64 bit, can you advise me how to do...
