Re: Migrating aip from rev 13.4 to 13.8.1: DirectoryCombo and DirectoriList disappear

Hello,

I confirm that in my aip project the option EUI is off too.

Thanks a lot.
I keep investigating meanwhile... ;)
Please let me know if you have a sample aip where you create a custom dialog using those two controls and it works fine too.
It would help me understanding.

Kind regards,
Silvio

Re: Migrating aip from rev 13.4 to 13.8.1: DirectoryCombo and DirectoriList disappear

Hello, thanks for your reply. I actually did not change the aip file and it was .exe before upgrading from 13.4 to 13.8.1. Anyway ,I changed it to MSI and now the controls are visible. I lost thepossibility to have an icon associated to the setup. I don't understand though why the setup of the sampl...

Re: Migrating aip from rev 13.4 to 13.8.1: DirectoryCombo and DirectoriList disappear

Hi all as you can see, the dialog is a custom one where we added some controls (the same ones from the browseDlg). I also tested a sample aip which has the browse folder dialog (https://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-guide/qa-browse-for-folder.html) and it works fine with the latest version so I don...

Migrating aip from rev 13.4 to 13.8.1: DirectoryCombo and DirectoriList disappear

Hi all, I am sorry I am asking help about an old release but we're kind of old here... I am upgrading my aip project from rev. 13.4 to 13.8.1 and DirectoryCombo and DirectoryList, contained in a dialog, are not shown during setup run. I could not test with more versions but something may got broken ...

Re: how to define a prerequisite pre-install (with URL) command line parameter

Hello Catalin,

it worked fine, thanks.
I honestly don't understand what changed since I did exactly the same things you mentioned but, it actually worked now.
I must think you have a special power to fix issues on customers' machines, right? :)

Thanks a lot.
Kind regards
Silvio

Re: how to define a prerequisite pre-install (with URL) command line parameter

Hello, thanks for the reply. I put the same /quite on both full UI and silent mode since our setup may be launched in full ui mode and with command line. The thing is that the downloaded .exe is still executed ignoring that modifier. Is the msi log containig something where I can see whether that mo...

how to define a prerequisite pre-install (with URL) command line parameter

Hello, in my setup, I am writing a pre-install url-based prerequisite I'd like to run in silent mode (if it comes to be installed according to the conditions I set). The download package is a .exe and accepts the /quiet as parameter to hide all the wizard dialog. From a command line DOS this paramet...

Property value updated wrong during change install

Hi all, I have a quite complex setup installing our product. This setup has one vbs script, with functions that are involved to set some properties in some custom actions. Our vbs produces a log file where I can read the values for those properties. Among these properties there is the DBW_LANG, whic...

Re: during service upgrade: skip feature selection and uninstall/reinstall

Hello Catalin, sorry for my very late reply. Tough moments in our company these days... Anyway, going back to the topic, I've tried your suggestion for topic n.1 (avoid to remove the service from windows while upgrading its files): I found out that the files are not updated. Let me summarize the top...

Re: during service upgrade: skip feature selection and uninstall/reinstall

Hi Catalin,

I forgot another doubt on point n.1: if I unflag the "Delete" checkbox, does the uninstall (from the control panel) remove the service? I only want to avoid the delete of the service during the uninstal of an upgrade run.

Thanks again.

Kind regards
Silvio

Re: during service upgrade: skip feature selection and uninstall/reinstall

Hi Catalin,

thank you for you reply.
For what regards point n.2, how can I disable the features checkboxes? In the ConfigureDlg I cannot see them at design time but only at run time.
More, once I disable them (as flagged) are they still upgraded, right?

Thanks a lot,
Silvio

during service upgrade: skip feature selection and uninstall/reinstall

Hi all, I know that upgrading means uninstall and then install back again but I have a special request here to ask to you. I have a setup which installs two services, allowing the user to select them with a ConfigureDlg and asking for service user credentials in with a specific dialog. During an upg...

create user inside active directory (domain user)

Hi all, is it possible to create a user inside the active directory instead that local user? I made a setup that creates a user and then creates a service run by him. Since this setup is run in a server belonging to a domain, I would like this user to be a domain user (I mean, listed in the active d...

Re: User creation and service install: managing user during install, update and unistall

Hi Catalin, I got it working. There were some usage techniques which I happened to find as wrong. For example: in the dialog phase I stored some values on properties (declared and set with a default value in the property list) which during the execution phase were again set to the default. I don't u...
