Re: Please wait while Microsoft configures Visual Studio Community 2015...

Thanks Daniel, It turns out we had Visual Studio Community 2015 installed (although we weren't using it) and just trying to open it up on its own took a ridiculous amount of time. Possibly some kind of installation corruption. I'm not sure. We uninstalled Visual Studio Community 2015 and...our probl...

Please wait while Microsoft configures Visual Studio Community 2015...

Hi, We're using version 12.4 of Advanced Installer. Part way through building our project, we get a message box saying "Please wait while Microsoft configures Visual Studio Community 2015", then Advanced Installer hangs for 40 minutes or so. Our project references some Visual C++ merge mod...

OK, that all sounds reasonable.

Thanks Dan.

Re: Error Inserting CAB Files

It's pretty weird. It only happens some of the time - maybe 80% of the time. Can you tell me what this: "Error calling MSI API: 161 Method: MsiRecordsetStream Table: _Streams", actually means? Do you know if it sounds like a permissions/security issue or the .aip file is in a read-only sta...

VSTO 2010 Runtime

I added the VSTO 2010 Runtime as a prerequisite and, for some reason, the project is now building itself as an .exe and not an .msi.
Is there some automatic thing that happened when adding the prereq? Or is it necessary to run the project as an .exe becaue of this prereq?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Re: Error Inserting CAB Files

Hi Daniel, Yes, the command line syntax is all quoted like that and I double checked the permissions on the folder. It's running from a process that builds about 8 AI projects in a row and it seems to be somewhat random. Sometimes everything builds and other times it's a different project that throw...

Error Inserting CAB Files

When building from an automated process on our Windows 2012 Server and using a command line that looks like this: AdvancedInstaller.com /rebuild "\..\PathToProject\CityViewManager.aip" We get an error at the point when the AdvancedInstaller is adding the CAB files into the MSI. The error i...

Re: Error 2732 - Directory Manager not initialized

OK, so in the merge module I'm trying to include, they have an action that, apparently, requires the directory manager to be initialized. But the action sequence value is 525 and the CostInitialize/Finalize stuff happens in this sequence (as far as I know): CostInitialize 800 FileCost 900 CostFinali...

Error 2732 - Directory Manager not initialized

I'm getting an error when I include an merge module in my project. The error is: 2732 - Directory Manager not initialized. It looks AI is running the merge modules before the CostInitialize/CostFinalize actions and the MSM needs to "use" the directory manager. Is there any way to sequence ...

Re: Need some help in Virtual Directory

Sounds reasonable...so how would you then make the value in a FOLDER_PROPERTY or DYNAMIC_VIRTUAL_DIR actually become the name of the virtual directory?

Re: Exception - Unable to find row with id

I'm unable to do that. When I try, I get a warning: "Some files and/or folders are referenced from other components and were not deleted" and the folders don't get deleted. That's in AI version 6.5 In 7.2.1, I get a similar message: "the items can't be removed because it is referred b...

Re: Exception - Unable to find row with id

Hi Gabriel, Thanks for your help. Yes, I don't think it's an Advanced Installer problem but rather an issue that's a result of a change to the merge modules we're using. Anyways, I think I have it working correctly now and fixed...except when we're trying to install on a Vista machine. In that case ...

Re: Exception - Unable to find row with id

We've had to create new .aip's by creating new projects and then merging older msi's (made from AI) because the resulting msi file that gets buit by Advanced Installer is different than it used to be - despite the fact that the .aip file hasn't changed. That is, we haven't changed anything in our Ad...

Re: Exception - Unable to find row with id

Hi Gabriel, Thanks so much for looking into this. It's really appreciated. Is the attached, fixed .aip file replaced above in the one I'd attached a few posts ago? I don't see the attached file in your last post. The error that occurs when the app is launched ('This application has failed to start.....
