Update time

How long should it take for the Analytics site to update to reflect a new install? I did one about 30 minutes ago, and I still see "No Data" on the site. Is this just a question of needing to wait longer?

Re: Windows User Error after running upgrade

Am I understanding this right, that the user account is deleted only on certain machine (despite the option to no delete it being checked) and this causes the certificate error? -Yes If that is the case, are you guys able to replicate this on any of your machines? -We have not been able to reproduce...

Windows User Error after running upgrade

Several of our sites are running into errors generating an internal certificate after running an upgrade. We've run a diff of the logs of the working sites against the non-working sites, and the problem sites all have the following two sections in the logs where working sites do not: (Only present i...

Re: Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.

We have not been able to reproduce this locally, or with our customer machines. The issue is occurring randomly on customer machines. On those customer machines rerunning the same upgrade works, which makes me think there is no issue with registry corruption or a disabled service. Does advanced inst...

Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.

We've been doing an automated deployment of upgrades, and have run into several instances of "Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed." appearing in the logs. An example in the logs looks like this: MSI (c) (AC:44) [05:09:30:008]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding EXE_CMD_LIN...

Re: Scheduled Task

I should be clear, our goal is to have a scheduled task created during the original install, and then have that scheduled task remain in place unmodified even if upgrades take place.

Scheduled Task

Hi! Is it possible to set the Install Condition in such a way that a scheduled task is not recreated during an upgrade?

Re: Upgrade Issues with Advanced Installer created Windows Users

Before submitting the files to advanced installer I had stripped out the signing information. As best I can tell this is not the source of the error I've been encountering. The old and new aip files both had the same certificate before I stripped the information out, and the error message "No s...

User with Log On as a Service

Is it possible through Advanced Installer to grant a user created through Advanced Installer the Log on as a service policy setting?

Handling Windows Passwords Securely

Our installer is currently set to create windows users using a property for a password. We've opened an msi file with Orca, and we can view the unencrypted password in the properties table. Is the predefined password option secure? If it is and we we do use a predefined password is there a way to pa...

Re: Upgrade Error Cause

I should be clear what I think is happening is that the SecureProp.dll is being removed during the Remove Resources step. Then after the Remove Resources step the uninstaller is trying to secure properties and fails to find the dll.

Upgrade Error Cause

Running an upgrade we are consistently getting an error that prevents the upgrade from completing. It appears to be happening with the RemoveExistingProducts step. Logs are below(I've stripped out a good portion of the properties for brevity.): MSI (s) (4C:5C) [00:16:09:963]: Skipping action: Report...

Upgrader Hosting

This is a generic question regarding hosting the upgrader files. Our upgrader files can be a little chunky (10's or 100's of megabytes). Currently we are using AWS to host the files for customers to download, but we are looking for alternatives (this decision was largely driven to comply with intern...

Re: Using licenses to control upgrades

Thanks! You've pointed us in the right direction. We had not understood the information was contained in the body of the request. Now that we've got this working, we're encountering something we don't understand. Checking the license using a registry key contains some values we don't understand. For...
