Re: Localized group accounts resolved to empty string in English system language

Here are some results after the test. Before install - note the Users group's presence before-install2.png After install - note the Users group is replaced by something called BUILTIN after-install2.png Granted that Everyone remained, but this is probably because we kept the permissions in the insta...

Re: Localized group accounts resolved to empty string in English system language

Hi Daniel, It does have an impact because if I revert to non-localized group names like "Everyone", the permissions are applied correctly. The question is why GRP_EVERYONE end up empty in English system language. Could it be a bug in 12.4 - we're using this version for this project? In any...

Re: Localized group accounts resolved to empty string in English system language

Hi Daniel,

Even if we keep existing permissions, I don't think that will solve the empty string for [GRP_EVERYONE], do you think so? I'll send over the verbose log & .aip file.

Re: Localized group accounts resolved to empty string in English system language

Btw, the reason for opting to use "[GRP_EVERYONE]" instead of "Everyone" is because the latter failed to resolve/localize in German system language. (see below)

Localized group accounts resolved to empty string in English system language

We encountered an issue where group accounts in non-English system language caused install errors. We found that we need to localize the group accounts per this FAQ . This worked well for non-English system language, but broke the installation on English system language, where the folders where we a...

Oh, I didn't think to right-click on that field. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

How to localize installer properties for custom action

Since the DetectProcess custom action does not do a looped check , I created a .NET DLL for this w/c accepts message text, message title, and wait time in between checks, since the message comes w/ a Retry button. My only problem is the message text and caption are not localized. I read from this to...

Re: UILevel may be set incorrectly

Thanks for your help, Catalin!

I reverted to this revision, unchecked the option, rebuilt, & retested and confirmed that the UILevel now works as expected.

Re: UILevel may be set incorrectly

I rolled back the .aip to before I upgraded to 16.0, rolled back to 15.9, reapplied the changes, rebuild, and UILevel gets set correctly and the custom action no longer gets triggered in full UI.

UILevel may be set incorrectly

In my Win10, when I run the installer w/ full UI, UILevel is set to 5 per the log - this is fine. But if I run the same installer in my Win7 w/ full UI, UILevel is set to 2. Is this a bug? The installer is built using AI v16.0 This oddity causes my custom action, w/c is only supposed to run when UIL...

Hyperlink text with only some parts clickable

Is it possible for the Hyperlink control to have only some parts of it's text as hyperlink, kind of like the following? Non-hyperlink part and [hyperlink part] It would be great if this can be done on any control that has Text property, but still okay to have it in Hyperlink control for now. The rea...

Re: Optional post-install prerequisite

you can simply add the "OptionalFeatsDlg" dialog (in the "Dialogs" page) I tried this and it looks like this could serve our purpose. It turns out this is not desirable because it downloads the optional feature before the main feature gets installed, then optional feature gets i...

Re: Optional post-install prerequisite

Thanks for your reply, Catalin! you can simply add the "OptionalFeatsDlg" dialog (in the "Dialogs" page) I tried this and it looks like this could serve our purpose. I am afraid that this is not possible by using the predefined dialogs I was talking about above. You're right, the...

Optional post-install prerequisite

What is the best way to go about this: - when installing the main app, installer must provide the user an option to install related app/s - the related app/s must be listed in checkbox/es only if not already installed - each related app must provide a short description upon selecting it on the list ...
