Emptying a folder first before copying new files?

Hello, I have created an installer which needs to delete the files inside an existing ( APPDIR ) folder, empty it first before copying the new files. How to do that please? Furthermore, I also want to rename a file in folder without overwriting it. If the file already exists then rename it and then...

Re: File (Application) in use?

Hello, To make it even simpler, is there a way in Advanced Installer (may be through CustomAction ) to register applications for a restart similar to the RegisterApplicationRestart ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa373347%28v=vs.85%29.aspx ) function? If the application is...

Re: File (Application) in use?

Hello again, OK to simplify this, it is like this, when the installer detects that the Microsoft Word is running ( AI_PROCESS_STATE = "Running", etc. I know this part) the installer needs to show the MsiRMFilesInUse dialog showing that Word is running. This works if there is a file that i...

Re: File (Application) in use?

Hello, Thanks again as always. I like to auto-close an application on a normal installer and not the update. As explained earlier, when the installer detects that the Microsoft Word is open (this I know with the custom action), it needs to close and re-open just like the MsiRMFilesInUse dialog does...

Re: File (Application) in use?

Hello,

In the Updates Configuration Project file (http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-g ... -page.html) it says "Use the [ New Update ] toolbar button". Where is it in the Advanced Installer. Is it in the Updater page?

Re: Update Execution and Update Behavior?

Hello, Thanks for your support until now. Since my installer's main file is DOTM (Word Add-in) file, this does not have any version numbers to read. I believe this may be the reason why I get the error at the end of auto-update installations. If I go to the DOTM file's Properties and the Version ta...

Re: File (Application) in use?

Thanks for your help so far. Where is the Auto-Close Application Dialog (http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-g ... ialog.html) in Advanced Installer?

File (Application) in use?

Hello, I am creating an installer for a Word add-in. If I am installing version 2 which means the version 1 is already installed, then we get the MsiRMFilesInUse dialog if the Microsoft Word is open indicating the previous add-in file is in use. However, if this is the first time installation and n...

Re: Update Execution and Update Behavior?

Hello, Thanks for your support and help so far. It was really useful. Let me explain the situation. I have created an installer for a Word Add-in (dotm). The installer only has the Word Add-in (dotm) and few icons and the files goes to [AppDataFolder][Manufacturer]\[ProductName] . The installer is s...

Re: Update Execution and Update Behavior?

Hello, Thanks for the help. In order to achieve that you can go in the Update Properties tab and in the Command Line from the Update Installer add the /qn parameter for a MSI update. This will make it install silently, without any UI. If you have an .EXE update then you can use /exenoui /qn command...
