msde installation, if msde is existing ...

Hi,

I'm installing a application with msde, everything working properly, when is a new installation.

I'm just wondering, if is possible to ...

when i run my installer, if the msde is already installed with the instance "instanceName", a pop up window will come up and said "do u want to overwrite the application", if I choose yes, i ll will overwrite the msde but give a different instance name. cause otherwise they will said the instance is already existing.

Hi,

Theoretically this would be possible, but you would have to create a setup launcher that determines whether MSDE is already installed and allows the user to install a different instance (specifying its name).
