Multiple builds with different resource files in one project

Hello, experts,

I need some help with my project.

Following situation:
I have a project and I want to create multiple builds with different resource files for each build.

Is this possible with Advanced Installer?

I have tried to create build events to copy files, but that doesn't work for me because the specific file I want to change for each build can be installed in different paths.
The path for the file I want to change can be adjusted during setup, so it is not possible to copy the file to a static folder/path.

I tried to use a variable in the argument field of a build event, but that doesn't work.
I created a search property to check the path from the registry. This search works because a registry entry for the path will created during setup:
search_success.jpg
search_success.jpg (78.66 KiB) Viewed 7389 times

But the result of the variable remains empty when I use the variable for a build event or an installation parameter:
build_event.jpg
build_event.jpg (57.59 KiB) Viewed 7389 times
What am I doing wrong?
I hope I could explain my problem and you can help.

Thanks a lot for everything.

Greetings
tom
