We already added this on our TODO list and it will be available in a future version of Advanced Installer. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Yes, this is the normal behavior. When "registry value search" detection criteria is used you should manually set the "Expected Value" field. The related button is enabled only when "file version search" or "file size search" detection criteria is used.
