Is it possible to make an Update Configuration File that displays a custom message (instead of "Your software is up to date") if the software is up-to-date?
I want to inform users that a new version of the product is available but it has to be purchased and cannot be downloaded as an update.

I'm afraid we don't have support for this, to display a custom message through the Updater.
However, you can try another approach. You can release your new version in trial mode. This can be done through the Advanced Installer - Licence feature. Advanced Licensing feature allows your users to evaluate your product before purchasing. It also enables users to register after they have received a valid key. After the trial period expired the user will be able to run your application only after registration.
