I was wondering if there was a configuration that makes the updater clear the .msi files in the C:\ProgramData\myApp\updates folder? These files are ~100mb, but we have a unique situation where we easily get ~100 updates per year, so that folder gets massive pretty quick.
From what I understand, you have a custom folder where you save your updates (for instance, for a primary version of 1.0.0, you build versions 1.0.1, 1.0.2, etc. in that folder - please correct me if I'm wrong). If this is the case, I am afraid that the Updater cannot automatically delete those files, you will have to manually delete them when they aren't necessary anymore.
If this is not the case, could you please give me some more details about this so I can better understand the scenario?
So it seems like the updater is automatically backing up the previous version msi file before installing the new update. I don't believe we are doing this ourselves. I was asked to do research to figure out how we could possibly change it so that it either doesn't backup the previous version, or at the very least removes them after the installation. Files with .aiu extensions are also being generated, if that helps. I'm kind of in a weird situation information-wise, so I'm sorry for the lack for details.
Thank you for your followup on this and for the explanation, it was helpful.
In order to achieve what you want, please open your updater project, go to "Update Installer" tab and please select the "Delete update package file after installation" option.
It took a little bit of time to find the correct tab, but in the end it worked great! Thanks again for the help! You may close/lock this thread if you want
