Windows Defender deleting the .exe installer file

Hello,
I am using Advanced Installer 20.6 Enterprise Edition.

I have a .exe type installer built with Advanced Installer. I was using the installer without any issues. But after deleting a "Conditional Dialog" and then building the .exe file. When I copy it to a Windows 10 VM. I get the below virus detected and the .exe file gets deleted. If I just revert the change and build the installer, then the .exe doesn't cause any issues.

Deleting only a "Conditional Dialog" should not give virus detection. Is it a false positive for Windows Defender? How can I resolve this virus detection?

Machine: Windows 10 VM
Installer executable file size: 923 MB

Hello Asif,

Is your setup digitally signed?

I have noticed a trend where Windows Defender flags your setup if it is not digitally signed.

Also, most likely, this is a false positive detection for which we can submit the files here: Submit a file for malware analysis.

Re: Windows Defender deleting the .exe installer file

Hello Catalin,
The setup is not digitally signed. Will Windows Defender still flag my setup if I sign it using a self-signed certificate and make the self-certificate trusted on that machine?

I will use the following approach: https://www.advancedinstaller.com/digit ... guide.html

Hello Asif,

If the setup is digitally signed, I would say that the issue will go away.
