Showing cyrillic and chinese text on a german machine

Hallo together,

using AI 11.8, we've stumbled over the following issue:

during first-time installation we present a list of languages the user can chose from (different from the setup language itself). We want each language within this list to be named in that particular language, i.e. English for English, Deutsch for German, Italiano for Italian and so on. Unfortunately, within a user account with German (tested also with French) region settings the cyrillic and chinese characters for Russian and Chinese, respectively, are shown as small rectangles. Switching to chinese user region setting on the same windows machine, all characters show on perfectly. Is it possible to influence the dispaly of those characters for all other regions so that they always show correctly?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Milen Tilev

Hello Milen Tilev,

I would kindly ask you to send us the .AIP file ad a verbose log at support at advancedinstaller dot com so that we can investigate more.
Here, locally, we could not reproduce the behavior.

Kind regards,

Hello Milen Tilev,

The installer interprets your strings according to the install language.
Since this language is the user accounts language (French or German), they do not include the special characters from Russian or Chinese.
For a correct interpretation of all characters, you have to go to the "Builds" page, expand the "Database Encoding" section and select "UTF-8 Encoding" option.

Also, as a suggestion, for the Romanian language, the correct form is "Română".

Do not hesitate to ask further questions.

Kind regards,
Irina
