Completely understandable. I had asked the question earlier and was just curious about the status, that's all. :)

You know, I was thinking to have some sort of notification mechanism on the website about new releases, but since these days mailing lists are not such a good idea because of spam... Any suggestions?

Cata

I think mailing lists are fine, as long as they are opt in. I use them to notify me when ...

Cata wrote:WinInst supports it, but AdvInst does not have an UI for it yet. You can do it though, by giving the reg entry the value [#file_id].
Do you put the brackets around the file_id?

Registry entries from substitution values

Sorry about the subject line, but I didn't know how else to phrase it. I need to make the follow registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNE\KEY 1\KEY 2\FINAL KEY = [ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer]\[ProductName]

The key value needs to hold where the program is stored. Is this possible?

What's New

What has changed since 0.4? It would be nice if either on the support board or on a What's New page, changes since last version was posted.

Merge Modules

Does your product in its current form support merge modules (msm)? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm pretty new to this whole area  .

Read in MSIs

This might need to be a feature of your "Professional" version, but it would be nice to be able to read in an MSI and then create another one based on the one that was just read in. Maybe force the program to save it to a different name/location so you won't overwrite the one that is there. Maybe ...

Never mind, I just figured out the New Shortcut context menu for an item installs the short cut in the Application Shourtcut Folder.

Well, that's what I thought the shortcut path meant, but when I tried a sample install it didn't work. Do I need to supply my own shortcut to the application in order to get that one to work?

Install Parameters

Is there a way to change the Application Folder value on the Install Parameters page? Also what does Application Shortcut Folder do?

Drag N Drop

In the project definition section when Files and Folders are selected, it would be nice to be able to drag a file on the right pane into a differenct folder in the left pane. For example:

While playing around with your program I put a file in one folder. After compiling the MSI, I understood what ...
