In testing this just now, it did not seem to work the way you said. It overwrote the database on the installed program with the one from the installer. There are lots of things on the todo list apparently. It's ironic that the big thing with the new version was NOT the big thing that people wanted. If I may ask, why are you throwing in the more exotic new features and then forgetting to put in the things that are essentially fixes. Always fix ...

Desktop shortcuts
Until desktop shortcuts are implemented and the ability to specifiy starting directories in those shortcuts, this program is completely useless to me. I was hoping that your 1.0 release would have those features since, during your previous release, you said they would be in the next release.
