SoyLatte for OS X 10.4

I'm having a difficulty. I have a Java 6 application that I need to distribute. It works fine with AI on Windows, because Java 6 has been shipping for Windows for a long time.

It also works fine on OS X 10.6, which ships with Java 6.

Our problem is that we have a lot of users who are still on OS X ...

What to do for Java 6 on OS X?

Hello AI,

Simple question. We have a Java 6 app and need to generate a OS X installer.

I know that AI doesn't allow me to bundle a JRE in the OS X installer bundle. That's fine.

We will require users to either install Java 6, or to be using Snow Leopard which comes with Java 6.

But... when we ...

Re: Support for generating MSI installers from linux

Advanced Installer is designed to work only on Windows platforms, so Linux support will not be included soon (we would have to re-write the application for Linux). However you can try using Advanced Installer on Wine.

I'm certainly not asking you to re-write it for Linux. That's a major task ...

Re: Java 6 on a Mac

Thanks, I'll require Snow Leopard. Unfortunately it's not released yet. For the other users I'll give them a link showing how to run the JAR file. That's not so good, but it's Apple's fault for totally screwing over Java developers. Java 6 is old stuff by now and it should be the default.

Re: Support for generating MSI installers from linux

Advanced Installer can run on Wine, but we don't have full official support for it yet. However, other Linux platforms are not supported.

It seems really close. I started creating a Java project for it, and I got to where I was adding files of the app, and that's where it hung.

It probably ...

Re: Support for generating MSI installers from linux

Thank you for your interest in Advanced Installer.
Advanced Installer does have a command line interface , but the application doesn't support Linux. Unfortunately Advanced Installer can run only on Windows.

Is there any plan to fix that? A lot of us are developing under Linux and have Wine. It ...

Java 6 on a Mac

Hello AdvancedInstallers,

I have a Java 6 app and I would like to distribute it for the Mac. Is this something AI supports yet? I know that Java 5 is (for whatever reason) still the default JVM on OS X. How can I configure my app to a) get Java 6 installed and b) use it to run?

Btw, I don't care ...
