Conditional file install based on files date

Hi

I would like to do a conditional file install of either of two files with the same name. I know about this: http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-guide/qa-install-file-with-same-name.html
Lets say I have three files with the same name A1, A2, A3.
A3 is the file that is presently installed. How ...

Re: Conditional file install

Hi Mihai,

Works great! Concerning "Persistence" If I tick "Preserve file content" by default a "1" will appear under conditions by default. What does "1" mean in terms of conditions?

Thanks for great support!

Conditional file install

Hi

I need to install one of two files with the same file name but slightly different content depending on if the machine name contains LH or RH. I have found the guide on how to install files with identical names: http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-guide/qa-install-file-with-same-name.html . But ...

Firewall exceptions and 6to4 adapters

Dear Sir,

Recently we started using Firewall rules in Advanced Installer to make exceptions in Windows 7 Firewall for our applications. Soon after we started using Firewall exceptions, our clients got problems with too many 6to4 adapters in device manager and as a consequence connectivity problems ...

Re: Pre-Boot

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply and assistance. I have asked our client to collect some of the verbose install logs. It will probably take a few days before I get some of them because the computers are located in remote places where there is not always IT technicians available.

Thanks!

Re: Pre-Boot

Hi Bogdan,

Thanks for your reply. We have many clients (Win 7 Prof & Enterprise) remotely to which we distribute unattended installs. Many of these installs is going wrong with files that dont get upgraded/replaced or the install is corrupted in someway. We don't know why this is happening on some ...

Dear Sir,

Is there someway I can invoke a Pre-boot install? Meaning that I want the system to boot once before installation?

Thanks!

Re: Permanent and persistant user data wizard

Hi Mihai,

Will Test.exe version 1.0 now be overwritten or replaced (upgraded) with the new version of the file (Test.exe v1.1) from the "Major Upgrade" built under 2.?

No, it will not be be overwritten or replaced. The component will not be removed during any uninstall.

If I add your earlier ...

Re: Permanent and persistant user data wizard

Hi Mihai,

Just to make sure I don't misunderstand something,. Consider the following scenario:

1. I install a file named Test.exe version 1.0 which has been ticked with "Permanent" on "Organization" page in a "Major Upgrade" build.
2. Then I decide to build a new "Major Upgrade" containing a new ...

Re: Permanent and persistant user data wizard

Hi Mihai,

Thanks for your reply. If I understand you correctly, I can then use "Permanent" on "Organization" page to effectively hinder any uninstallation (upgrade) of file(s) (they will remain untouched?) until such time when I choose to unselect "Permanent" on "Organization" page on a "Major ...

Permanent and persistant user data wizard

Dear Sir,

What is the difference between selecting "Permanent" on "Organization" page and using "Persistant user data wizard"? What will the effect be if you deselect the function "Permanent" for a file on the next "Major Upgrade" you do? Also when using these functions will the file(s) remain ...

Re: Could not set the icon to the package.

Hi Mihai,

This is the icon which is working intermittently: The other place was in the Media page, on the Bootstrapper tab of your current build. This icon will be visible once you activate the Enhanced UI from the Themes page, Settings tab. I have applied your suggestion: This icon will be visible ...
