Creating Folders that recreate upon application start

Hi, we've created an install that has several folders in the commonappdir. These folders all have full permissions for user group Everyone.

We noticed on our Win 7 machines that, once the application is installed, if we delete one of these folders and then run the application (not the installer ...

Common Application Data Folder

When creating a visual studio project, we are trying to create a folder that will contain certain persistent data like logs, photos, etc, which are necessary to our application.

We have created the following folders in Common Application Data: [company]\[product]\[data]

In Vista tests we end up ...

Create easily accessable folders

Hi all,
Fairly new to this but been reading a ton...

Our per-machine installation needs to create some folders that are going to be repositories for things like photos and videos. We need the folders to be visible without any special user interaction, so the CommonAppDataFolder really isn't a ...

SQL Server 2008 Express R2 SP1 Prerequisite

It would be nice if the above SQL Server 2008 Express R2 SP1 prerequisite was added, that way users would not be prompted to update to SP1 after install. I've done it manually, but I thought it would be nice to have it as an automatic selection. Thanks!

Re: Add SQL Server Express 2008 to install package

Hi Daniel,

We experienced this "bug" while also trying to use the prerequisite for SQL Express 2008 SP2. Unfortunately, because we have to offer both 32 and 64 bit SQL Express along with our program, the installation package is far too large if we included the SQL files. In fact, the AI won't even ...

Re: Add SQL Server Express 2008 to install package

Thanks for the help, but I still keep getting an error when trying to install SQL Server Express 2008 R2 as a selected prerequisite in my install package.

I'm running on XP Pro and downloading the predefined prerequisite, but keep getting 4154 immediately after the download completes.

Here's the ...

Add SQL Server Express 2008 to install package

Hi,
I have a question - hope it doesnt sound too stupid! We are packaging our solution, which requires SQL Express 2008. We are defining it as a feature based prerequisite, downloaded from MS. Because most of our current installs out in the wild have SQL Express 2008 SP2, we did not define R2, as I ...
