Upgrade installer will not install short cuts

I am having an installer problem that has really stumped me. When I try to upgrade a version of my software (the old version gets replaced by the new version) the old shortcuts are removed but the two shortcuts that are part of the new version that should be installed do not get installed. Besides that problem, the upgrade seems a success. If I uninstall the old version first and install the new version, the shortcuts install fine. If the old version is upgraded by the new version and then I run the new installer again and use the "Repair" feature the shortcuts install fine as well. Any help is appreciated.

I have tried replicating the described behavior, but unfortunately I was not able to do so.

I have created a sample project in which I had only an EXE and a shortcut of that EXE on the desktop.

I have performed an upgrade operation and indeed, the shortcut was removed but then it was replaced by the new shortcut.

Since it is a major upgrade, it is normal that the old shortcut was removed, but it is indeed strange that the newer shortcut was not removed.

In order for me to further investigate this issue, could you please forward me the following:

1. the .AIP files for both the older version of your setup and for the newer version of your setup.

2. the upgrade installation log file
