Component XXX.exe has non-advertised shortcuts problem

Per-machine installation....

With ICE turned on, I get a bunch of errors like...

"Component XXX.exe has non-advertised shortcuts. It should use a registry key under HKCU as its KeyPath, not a file."

Yes, the shortcuts have Advertising disabled. So what is this meaning, and why HKCU when it is a per-machine installation?

Thanks.

Also, when a shortcut is added to the Desktop, I get error...

"Component XXX.exe has both per-user and per-machine data with a per-machine KeyPath"

So it would seem that although I have a per-machine install the Desktop is referring to the user desktop rather than the Public Desktop (C:\Users\Public\Desktop)?

Hi,

I apologize for the delayed reply. Can you please send us your project to support at advancedinstaller dot com, so we can have a better view of its configuration?

Hi,

I looked over your project and, indeed, this seems to happen because the ICE validation does not take into account the type of package. I added this on our list, so it will be improved in a future version of Advanced Installer. Thank you for bringing it to our attention!
