A suggestion to incorporate creation of a new website in IIS (not just a virtual directory under existing websites, like competing products do), with complete website configuration.

Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like a pretty good idea! But I am afraid that I do not have the necessary expertize with IIS (I am using Apache).

Would it be possible for you to write an email (to support at advancedinstaller dot com) detailing as much as possible the operations implied by this feature? It would really help us implement it if we had a real user case to back it up...

Actually in my case, even basic Virtual Directory installation would suffice.

At this point the only way to do that is by writing a Custom Action.

what about a custom action tutorial then

A Custom Action is a simple EXE/DLL file. Any tutorial you can find on Google about creating EXEs and DLLs in C/C++ will suffice.

Did you every get the information you wanted on this? We are doing IIS virtual directories in a custom action.

There are several interfaces you can use depending on the platform, your preferences and version of IIS.

All of them a little counter-intuitive at first.
