Windows Features Prerequisites...?

Hello,

I'm trying to install the DFS Management Tools Windows feature but finding things in the Windows Features Prerequisites in Advanced Installer has become all but impossible.

The user interface doesn't match the Windows Server interface any more. It seems to be a mixture of DISM naming, Windows Server feature naming and others...?

The filter is broken - typing DFS in the filter box shows features that don't have the letters "DFS" in them.

Is there a better way?

Hello Dave,

I have run some tests and it looks like indeed the filter option has gone south.

I reported this to our dev team and hopefully this will be fixed in a future version of Advanced Installer.

Regarding the DFS feature, I was able to manually find it under "File Services".

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure that the feature you mention is the tools, or whether it's the actual DFS namespaces feature.

Either way the Features section isn't really fit for purpose anymore - it's really hard to use and it's inconsistent between server operating systems and desktop operating systems. I can't tell whether it's using DISM names, or Windows Server feature names.

I've written a blog post on how to work around this and use PowerShell instead of the AdvancedInstaller features section.
