Struggling to get AI_DETECTED_INTERNET_CONNECTION property functioning correctly

Hi,

I am running Advanced Installer 22.1 and having difficulty using the AI_DETECTED_INTERNET_CONNECTION property.
For my installer, I have several software prerequisites which the user can choose to install or not. One of these prerequisites, SQL Server Management Studio, is not essential for our software to function correctly. For this prerequisite, we link to its web installer rather than a file from the disk due to size constraints. Therefore if the user checks the box to install SQL Server Management Studio but does not have an Internet connection, they get an error message. What I would like to do is to disable this prerequisite either from appearing on the prerequisite list at all, or gray out the checkbox if that is not easily doable, if an Internet connection is not detected. If an Internet connection is detected, then the user can decide whether they want to install it or not. We also detect whether this prerequisite is already installed or not and let the user know if so. Does anyone have any insight into how to do this?

Thanks!
Liviu

Re: Struggling to get AI_DETECTED_INTERNET_CONNECTION property functioning correctly

Hello Sarah,

I’ve already responded to your email regarding this, and our conversation has been ongoing there. Additionally, I sent you a sample project that achieves exactly this scenario.

Posting the same problem on both email and the forum is unnecessary. Duplicate threads can result in two different team members addressing the same question, causing inefficiency.

Best regards,
Liviu

Hi Liviu,

Oh no, I'm really sorry--I have not received your email so I assumed you had not replied. I'm not sure if it got stuck in my spam filter or something.

Hey Sarah,

No worries about that, it happens. :)

Please continue the thread with my colleague Liviu for now and if you have any other questions, you can open a new thread either here or on email.

Best regards,
