fix windows taskbar

Good morning,

I found this article AI that gives an example of how to create a shortcut on my Windows taskbar. However, on my AI I couldn't get the same creation screen that appears in the article.

In my AI it appears like this.

Am I doing something wrong or is there some version restriction on this subject? I am on version 22.2

Re: fix windows taskbar

Hello,

This is because the screenshot in the article you linked is from an old version of Advanced Installer. Meanwhile, the interface has been improved, but this article has not been updated to reflect the changes.

I will forward this to our technical writing team.

You can read details about the new user interface options at Shortcut Properties article.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Best regards,
Liviu

Re: fix windows taskbar

Hello Liviu,

Thanks for your reply

I configured my installer with the recommendation in the Shortcut Properties article but I was unsuccessful. I didn't get a question about pinning to the taskbar.

Are the settings correct?

Re: fix windows taskbar

Hello,

Yes, the settings are correct.

Can you check on Windows 10 if it works as expected? It should also work on Windows 11 23H2 or lower builds.

Starting with Windows 11 24H2 update, a change has been introduced that affects the ability to pin applications to the taskbar. However, this functionality still works on earlier versions of Windows. At this time, there is no workaround for this issue but if you still wish to pin an application to the taskbar on Windows 11 24H2, we recommend using the official Microsoft-supported method Pin your app to the taskbar.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Liviu
