Uninstall/Upgrade error on Win11

Testing my latest MSI installer on Windows 11 (built with the latest AI Pro version), I'm seeing consistent errors on an Uninstall or Upgrade. These appear to be AI functionality, not specific to my installer features. An "ugly" error message appears to the end-user and the log always contains something to the effect:
Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI9478.tmp, Entrypoint: OnAiRemoveRegs

MSI (s) (54:90) [20:43:56:747]: Note: 1: 2318 2:

MSI (s) (54:90) [20:43:56:750]: Note: 1: 1926 2: 1307 3: D:\Config.Msi\24b7f9cf.rbf

MSI (s) (54:90) [20:43:56:750]: ERROR: Setting File Security failed for D:\Config.Msi\24b7f9cf.rbf:

MSI (s) (54:90) [20:44:31:043]: Product: XXXXXX -- Error 1926. Could not set file security for file 'D:\Config.Msi\24b7f9cf.rbf'. Error: 1307. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions for this file.
The error is usually like the attachment.

I can attach an entire installer log, but would prefer to keep that confidential, as I am not sure if it would contain any confidential info.

Re: Uninstall/Upgrade error on Win11

Hello Aj,

That is indeed an interesting error.

Are you able to constantly reproduce it on your end?

If so, do you think you can create a sample project that reproduces this and forward me:

- the installer log (main installer)

- the sample AIP file

- a download link for the resulted setup

by email at support at advancedinstaller dot com so I can run some tests and further investigate this?

Best regards,

Re: Uninstall/Upgrade error on Win11

My current installer reproduces it consistently. I can certainly send you the log from that.

Since I have no idea which part of the Uninstall causes it (I don't know what "OnAiRemoveRegs" is), it would be very difficult for me to create a new, sample installer just to test.

Hello Aj,

Please forward me the following resources, then:

- a copy of the AIP file

- download link for v1 of your product

- download link for v2 of your product (so I can perform the upgrade)

by email at support at advancedinstaller dot com so I can run some tests and further investigate this behavior.

Best regards,
