Able to add patches or update previous installations

Definitely being able to add patches to previously installed applications, So that if you have update the exe or say a dll file then then the user can be informed that there is an update & they can download the new exe file & it will simply add files or overwrite the others without having to go through a brand new install each time then is an updated part of the program. Hopefully this can be implemented asap, Thanks..

Hi Cata,

we are looking at using the patch support capabilities for a product that has been rolled out using 2.3.

I would like to know what the roll back capabilities for these MSPs are? Does the patch installation take a copy of the files it is replacing so that, if the patch was uninstalled, the changes would roll back?

Hi Anthony,

No, the replaced files are not backed up because Windows Installer 2.0 does not allow a patch to be uninstalled.
