Cannot install on Windows Vista x64 with SP1

I have reports of problems when people try to run install on Windows Vista x64 SP1 final build available from MSDN.

The installer reports following error when run:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact software publisher.

Advanced Installer used is 6.1.1. Running same install on Windows Vista x64 does not yield this message and installer runs correctly.

Hi,

This message may be shown if a 16-bit application is launched on Windows Vista x64.

Can you please give me more details about this? When does the error occur (when you launch the installer or during the installation)?

The installer is 32-bit package type.

It has as Prerequisites following set:

Windows 9x from: Windows 95
Windows NT/2K/XP from: Windows NT 4.0
Windows NT 64-bit from: Windows XP 64-bit

This error occurs when installer is launched not during installation.

Did you test the installer specifically on Windows Vista x64 with SP 1?

As I mentioned earlier Windows Vista x64 without SP1 works correctly.

I would appreciate help since we have customers that can't install the product because of this.

Hi,

We are currently investigating this problem, but for now we are unable to reproduce it. Can you please send us the installation package which shows this behavior to support at advancedinstaller dot com (or provide an URL from where we can download it) so we can investigate it?

Does the installation have any prerequisites? If so, can you launch the prerequisites separately and see if they are installed correctly? Also, can you reproduce this with other installation packages?
