Shortcut is showing [ProductName] instead of the value.

I'm still evaluating the PRo version (2.5.1) but pretty sure I'll be making a purchase very soon (before the 30 day trial is up). But have run into a small problem.

If I crreate a shortcut on the desktop or in the start menu, and set the name of the shortcut to [ProductName], this doesn't get expanded when the shortcut is created (as it does everywhere else) but shows up as the text string [ProductName]. The help does imply that this should work "This field, just like the Name field, is of Formatted Type and thus it can include references to files, folders and properties."

Any thoughts?

I am afraid that is a mistake in our documentation. The Name field is NOT of Formatted type, and thus you can't have Properties substitution there. You need to include the name of the product directly.

I will notify our technical writing department.

OK, thanks for the update.

Could you please add this as a feature request for a future version. It would be very useful, and does seem to be somewhat of an oversight.

That is Windows Installer functionality, not Advanced Installer. If Microsoft adds the feature, we'll surely support it.
