Resuming downloads / update and pre-requisite

I notice that the updater has a pause/resume button (and the pre-requisite downloader)

Does this allow partial downloads to be cached and resumed at a later date?

i.e. Pause the downloader, close it, restart it, and resume from where it starts off

This doesn't seem to happen at the moment, but I'm wondering if its because the web server I'm hosting the download file on doesn't support the HTTP resume feature set?

Yes, this feature is supported by the Updater. However, it doesn't work for FTP or for servers which do not support this.
