File and/or Folder deletions

Hi,

When cleaning up my installation package, I attempted to delete some files and folders that were referenced in other parts of the installer (i.e. shortcuts, etc.) However, I get a message box that states:

Error
Cannot delete file "index.html". It is referenced from another component.

It doesn't say what that component is, though. It would be nice to be presented with a list of the various component or components that the item is referenced by.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion.

This is a good idea and it will be placed on our todo list. However it is only an enhancement so it cannot be assigned a very high priority.

That's fine. It's not a big need or concern. I just thought I'd point it out as a "nice-to-have" feature.

I too had this same error. I had to rename the file and point it to a different file because I was unable to delete the object and I didn't want it sitting around unused.

Maybe this is more than just an enhancement? Possibly something else is going on that is mistakingly causing things to think they are referenced by another component.

Hi,

There is the possibility of a bug in the way AI checks if a file is being referenced, but we have no knowledge of such a thing. However, we are very careful to investigate such issues.

Are you sure the file was not referenced anywhere else in the project? If so, could you please tell us what are the steps that must be followed to end up in this situation?

Best regards,
Mihai
