Exception EOleSysError

I am using Advanced Installer 7.7 build 28804.

I am installing to Windows 7 32-bit OS.

I have two installers. The first installs file associations and ODBC driver because it must be ran by an admin.

The second installer only installs files to a directory and is run per user.

After I run the second installer and try to run an exe file, I get this error:
Exception EOleSysError in module XRclient.exe at 0008E3A4. Error accessing the OLE registry.

If I do NOT run the second installer, the exe file works fine. If I run the same two installers in Windows XP I get no errors.

Please help? Any ideas how to solve this?

Hi Scott,

Most likely the second package installs something which needs Administrator privileges. Can you please give me more details about this problem? What EXE shows this error? Also, what extensions are you associating?

After the error, if I uninstall everything and then reinstall, everything works fine. It is only the first time it is ever installed.

The exe file that shows the error is XRClient.exe, which is 3rd party software. The file assiciation is .XRA, which should run XRClient.exe.

Hi,

I'm not sure why this happens. Try contacting the company which created "XRClient.exe" and find out when it shows this error. Perhaps there is a conflict with other files or there are some missing resources.
