Re: Where is my setup.ini [8.1]

Hi,

This file is automatically included into the EXE setup file, if the corespondent option is activated in Bootstrapper page. Can you please check if this is the case?

Hi,

In this tab there is also an option to include/leave outside the installation files form the EXE, if it is set to include the files then the INI will not be visible.

Hi,
I activated this option. But no ini-File. The only effect is a new cab-file.

Re: Where is my setup.ini [8.1]

Hi,

I talked to a colleague from the development team and he confirmed that starting with version 8.1 of Advanced Installer this INI file is not accessible,
since any custom editing is not allowed, this file is edited only by Advanced Installer.

Re: Where is my setup.ini [8.1]

If the ini file is hidden, but the Exe file is needed for prerequisites, how do you supply command line parameters and use an Exe ?

Can you use Setup.exe [MY-MSI-PARAMETERLIST] and the parameters are passed to the msiexec command line ?

Thanks

Re: Where is my setup.ini [8.1]

I've just checked this and it works ok,
Setup.exe [MY-MSI-PARAMETERLIST] passes the parameters to the msiexec command line.

However now I need to launch Setup.exe from a batch file which is uglier than having Setup.exe pick up its parameters from its own ini file.

I do not like this change in functionality !! Wny was this change necessary :?:

Thanks,
Alastair

Re: Where is my setup.ini [8.1]

Hi Alastair,

Of course you can pass the parameters, very simple. Here is for example ho to pass a property:

Code: Select all

setup.exe MY_PROP="value"
Or how to enable verbose logging:

Code: Select all

setup.exe /L*V "C:\debug.log"
