Patches - anything special needed for original install?

I'm coming up on a deadline for the original install. I was wondering if I need to do anything special to the original install now to allow updates of patches later or if I can just handle that later when we're ready to create updates.

Hmm, well I guess I do need to add the "Update" shortcut to the original.
