SharePoint web part

Hello,

We've just upgraded to enterprise to allow us more control over the interface and also the ability to deploy sharepoint web parts.

I've built a web part is studio 2010 and published it locally. I've then built a new advanced installer based on the sharepoint wizard.

AI has built a new setup without complaining and the install has run smoothly on our sharepoint server, however, I cannot see the web part within sharepoint.

When installing the installer did ask what site to install the web part on which leads me to believe that it has in fact worked ok however I just can't find the webpart in sharepoint at all.

Any ideas, very welcome :)

Thanks,

Mike,

Re: SharePoint web part

Hello Mike,

We have tested the scenario using Sharepoint 2010, but we couldn't replicate the behavior. Can you please enable the "Show deployment log after install" option, from "SharePoint page -> SharePoint Server" tree node, and tell us what will be displayed in the "SharePoint Deployment Log" dialog at the end of installation?

Also, can you please specify what version of SharePoint are you using?

All the best,
Daniel

Re: SharePoint web part

Hello,

No problem, the log is totally blank and we're using sharepoint 2010.

When creating the installer its just asking for the wsp file, do I not need to add in the dll or any other files?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: SharePoint web part

Hello,

If it helps I can send you the wsp file and the AI installer....the webpart is pretty basic.

I'm due to install the web part at the clients site at 3pm today so it looks like I'll have to do it the old fashioned way for the moment!

Kind regards,

Mike,

Re: SharePoint web part

Hello Mike,

I'm not sure why this happens. Can you please send us the .aip (project file) and .wsp file to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate them?

All the best,
Daniel

Hello,

OK no problem, it should be all with you now.

Its probably something really silly which I've not ticked, or ticked and shouldn't have!

Thanks for the speedy response.
